Apparently having a Dyslexia certification is a hot property these days with a hospital in Athens revealing a scam where a former employee produced fake certifications. People believe the certificates will either exempt their kids from exams, provide them with government benefits or other positives. This practice does not help the kids with real dyslexia as it will create a bias against the disability and make it even more difficult to get schools to provide facilities to overcome the problems that come with having Dyslexia.

Dyslexia training for teachers needed

Almost two thirds of parents of dyslexic children (61%) said their child had to wait a year for help after being diagnosed, a report suggests.

Of 450 parents surveyed for the charity Dyslexia Action, 90% said teachers lacked awareness of the condition.

The charity wants dyslexia training for all teachers and a national dyslexia and literacy strategy included in the government’s special needs reforms

High stakes tests must be reliable, valid and accessible to dyslexic children and adults.
