A hearing on Dyslexia in the US House of representatives

Dyslexia: News from the web:

From time to time we may all wonder what these folks in the Capitol are up to but today they are working to figure out where we are on Dyslexia. The Committee on Science, Space, and Technology will hold a hearing entitled The Science of
Dyslexia.

The purpose of this hearing is to understand the latest scientific research in dyslexia, to discuss
promising future research directions and promising treatments for people with dyslexia to
overcome challenges they face, and to explore educational opportunities for students with
dyslexia in fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Witnesses will
testify on their personal experience with dyslexia or how they helped others overcome this
challenge through innovative and creative problem-solving.

We’ll wait for the outcome, should be interesting.

Online email help with dyslexia by actual humans!

Dyslexia: News from the web:

Someone alerted us to this rather new service. eAngel is a service that allows you to easily correct/proofread your email’s language. They correct spelling, punctuation, grammar and misused used words. However, they don’t change the meaning of the text. They don’t translate texts, they only proofread them.

We have not tried the service but you can start for free so go ahead and explore this service and let us know how it helps you.

No charter school for dyslexia in Pittsburgh

Dyslexia: News from the web:

The schoolboard in Pittsburgh turned down a pitch for a charter school for children with dyslexia. So the question is if this is bad news or that we should focus on helping children with dyslexia in our regular school system instead of separating them out in a special needs school?
