School with a separate wing for children with Dyslexia

Here is a school that opens a whole wing for children with Dyslexia. The good news is that they apparently recognize the enormous need there is for qualified support for children with Dyslexia. The question I’m raising, without knowing the school program at all, is that a separate wing may put too much emphasis on the learning disability and not recognize that the children should grow up among their peers without Dyslexia.

A new website has been launched with someone eager to help you figure how to help your child educationally, to figure out how meet his specific needs, and to help you create an educational synergy that will enable your child to learn successfully.  Whether you homeschool, doubt you can  homeschool, or really, really want to continue working with the school, you’ll need to make a plan for properly meeting your child’s educational needs.

They are developing a step-by-step guide for how to homeschool and/or help your child overcome learning disabilities. Thus, the site is not yet fully ready to provide you with the upcoming step-by-step guide.  However, updates are under way.

Early intervention with Dyslexia still key to success

A new study of the genetic origins of dyslexia and other learning disabilities could allow for earlier diagnoses and more successful interventions, according to researchers at Yale School of Medicine. Many students now are not diagnosed until high school, at which point treatments are less effective.

There is a long debate going on about how video games could help cure or improve dyslexia. The emphasis here is on how dyslexia is related to attention deficit rather than hearing issues. Our link provides you with a great article reviewing most of the viewpoints. But, spoiler alert, here is the consensus: “Further study is required to truly gauge the impact that video games could have on dyslexia treatment. Certainly it’s too early for children to be abandoning traditional therapy in favour of lengthy Minecraft sessions.”
