Long term research about lenses for Dyslexia

This is a study over 18 months in a school in de UK. But here is where I get some doubts:

The study, funded by a grant from the Leicester charity The Stoneygate Trust, was carried out over an 18-month period by SchoolVision, an independent organisation which provides diploma-based training for experienced optometrists to detect and treat the symptoms of dyslexia through the use of corrective spectacles.

That sounds like the organization who is already vested in helping dyslexia through lenses is not doing the research? How is that an independent organization?
