Dyslexia does not exist in Alabama?

Woven into the story today is a message that the public schools in Alabama do not recognize dyslexia as a learning disability. SERIOUSLY?? How can a state continue to ignore widely published research about this disability? Well sometimes you cannot just believe something your read on the internet and here is a quote from the Alabama dyslexia organization:

A Public School Initiative The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDOE) decided that it wanted to serve students with dyslexia and related disorders within the public school system. Seeing the teachers as their greatest resource, the department sought training that would empower selected teachers to serve those students. As of July 2012, 101 teachers have been trained or are in training through the SDOE program to provide therapy level training in multisensory structured language education.
